POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lexington VA Medical Center (VAMC), a part of the VA Healthcare System, provides comprehensive
healthcare services to veterans in central Kentucky. This includes a wide range of care, such as primary
care, mental health services, specialty care (cardiology, oncology, and advanced surgical treatments),
and extended care options like rehabilitation, long-term care, and geriatric care.
Conducting patient evaluations, interpreting nuclear medicine scans, and collaborating with the
healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans. You will play a key role in diagnosing
various medical conditions and advising on appropriate therapies using radiopharmaceuticals.
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
• Education: M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
• License: a current license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth
• Board Certification: Board Certified in Nuclear Medicine or Radiology
• Certificate:
o BLS, ACLS, or equivalent
o NPI number / DEA
• US Citizenship: US Citizen
• Must not be on the OIG Excluded list
• Background check required
• Must meet health screening requirements
• Ability to effectively speak, understand, read, and write English
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft OS and software, and functional typing/keyboarding skills
• Be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods and physically capable of
performing all the services required under the contract and TO
CORE DUTIES
• Provide direct patient care in Nuclear Medicine procedures including, but not limited to General
Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound,
Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and PET/CT.
• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and interpret imaging results.
• Administration/supervision of all drugs as needed to perform and interpret imaging
examinations.
• Ensure pre- and post-technical oversight and feedback for the technologists and nurses involved
in performing procedures.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to procedures and patient interactions
