Pediatric Nephrology APP Needed in TX

Location: Dallas

12 hours shifts-some weekends (7a-7p)

Start Date: 07/01/25

Length of assignment (Weeks): 12 weeks

Need Equivalent of 2 FTE

Certifications Required: PA, NP (Peds Acute Care: PNP-AC)
Certs required BLS, PALS,
Patient Per Day: 2-8
EMR: Epic
ED, internal medicine (hospitalist service), ICU, cardiology, oncology, or nephrology background preferred. This is a well supported position and resources available for reference. Open to considering others interested in this specialty.

Daily Duties:
• Typical ratio of 1 APP:8 patients admitted on Nephrology Service.
• The APP will cover inpatient on Teaching service with resources identified throughout shift. Residents, fellows, APPs and Attendings utilized on this service for coverage of primary nephrology patients.
• review past and present patient medical history, obtain family history, surgical and social history, perform physical assessment and formulate diagnosis.
• The APP will collaborate with physicians on plan of care, place lab/radiology/medication/referral/dietary orders as needed & ensure needed imaging/studies are scheduled.
• The APP will initiate patient teaching, review all lab results and manage in collaboration with MD.
• Care of patients with Nephrology Disorders include but are not limited to: Nephrotic Syndrome; HUS; HSP; CKD (stage 1-4), ARF, Hypertension, Dysfunctional Voider; Hematuria; Proteinuria; Lupus Nephritis, Pre-renal biopsy, kidney stones, hypercalciuria, cystic kidney disease, Interstitial Nephritis, Renal Dysplasia, and Glomerular Nephritis.

Orientation process:
Locums will be oriented to resources and team in first 2 weeks of hire, taking on more independence as able during that time.

APP providers can independently manage patients within their comfort level and established Scope of Practice after the approval of the Medical Director and APS Manager.
