ASAP Start: Correctional Psychiatry Role in North Carolina | High Acuity | 3-5 days / week schedule

Location: Onsite | Start Date: June | Schedule: 3–5 Days/Week (Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM)

Contract length: 3 months + option to extend

We are seeking a dedicated psychiatrist with recent (within the last 5 years) experience in correctional or forensic settings to join our team in a secure adult male facility. This is a clinically focused, mission-driven role with a strong emphasis on stabilization and recovery.

Position Highlights:
-- Primary Responsibilities: Psychiatric evaluations, medication management (no controlled substances), and intake/admissions
-- Patient Population: Adult male inmates with high-acuity psychiatric conditions, including psychosis, suicidality, severe self-injury, and substance use disorders
-- Setting: In-cell care model within a medically driven unit; patients receive structured care and recreation (1 hour/day). Upon stabilization, they transition to a higher-functioning unit with access to more freedoms and group activities
-- Formulary: Practice within a defined correctional formulary to support consistency and safety
-- Caseload: Approximately 10–12 patients per day
-- Workload: No weekends or on-call responsibilities

Ideal Candidate:
-- Board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist
-- Recent/Past correctional or high-acuity psychiatric experience
-- Comfortable working in a highly structured, secure environment
-- Strong commitment to ethical care and patient dignity within the correctional system
