Pediatric Acute Care NP or PA | PICU + Transitional Care | Northern California | 6-Month Contract

Job description

A leading children’s hospital in Northern California is seeking a CPNP-AC or PA-C for locum coverage in their Pediatric ICU (PICU) and Transitional Care Unit (TCUP). This role involves providing high-level care to infants and children with complex medical needs or recovering from surgery. The contract runs for 6 months with a required 12 shifts per month.

Unit Details:

PICU: 20-bed high-acuity unit for critical pediatric care

TCUP: 16-bed unit for post-op or moderate-to-high complexity cases

Conditions Treated: Post-surgical recovery, solid organ transplant follow-up, non-invasive ventilation (BIPAP, CPAP, HFNC), anticoagulant titration, and more

Shifts & Ratios:

12-hour shifts (with a self-managed 30-min unpaid break)

Signout times:

PICU: 6:15 AM / 6:15 PM

TCUP: 6:30 AM / 6:30 PM

Ratios:

PICU Days: 5:1 (weekdays), 7:1 (weekends)

PICU Nights: 10:1

TCUP Days: 5–8:1

TCUP Nights: up to 16:1
