Job description
Radiologist – Hospital & Outpatient Coverage (California)
Schedule & Availability:
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with potential night call after 4:30 PM (rarely called during the week)
Clinical Duties:
Provide hospital coverage including interventional radiology procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis, nephrostomy tubes, abscess drainage, chest tubes, and suprapubic catheters
Perform lumbar punctures, barium studies, centesis exams with drains
Conduct CT and ultrasound-guided biopsies (thyroid, lung, others)
Manage acute care imaging including stroke CTs, emergency department, and ICU imaging studies
Provide onsite coverage for outpatient imaging procedures including contrasted CTs, MRIs, and breast biopsies
Daily Volume & Case Mix:
Approximately 70 studies per day, including:
15–20 CTs
15–25 X-rays
10–15 Ultrasounds
5–8 MRIs
Perform 5–8 procedures per day
Patient population includes ICU, surgical, medical, obstetric, and emergency cases.
Technology & Support:
Work within an electronic medical record system
Collaborate with diagnostic imaging nurses and technologists
Access to radiology group support for overflow and after-hours reads
Travel Preferences:
Preferred lodging: Hotel accommodations near assignment location
Travel: Local, no flights expected
Credentialing & Compliance:
Board Certified or Board Eligible – Required
State Medical License (California) – Required
Residency and Fellowship completion – Required
BLS and DEA – required during credentialing
California Fluoroscopy license – required at submission
Malpractice: Clean preferred

Emphasis on strong procedural skills and acute care imaging capabilities
